NNWO Welcomes New Associate to Its Staff

NNWO Government & Legislative Affairs Associate Tom Gordon

Washington, DC--The Navajo Nation Washington Office welcomed a new staff member last week. Tom Gordon joins the NNWO team as a Government & Legislative Affairs Associate. Gordon will handle Health and Social Services portfolios.

"We're delighted to welcome Tom to the team and we look forward to utilizing his unique skills in the service of the Navajo people," said NNWO executive director Clara Pratte. 

Gordon recently returned from Baghdad where he served as a senior consultant to the Iraqi Council of Representatives and tribal liaison under a U.S. Department of State contract. He was also assigned to Afghanistan during that country’s elections.

Before leaving for overseas, Gordon was Director of Development at Diné College, the higher education institution of the Navajo Nation. He also served as an elected member of the Arizona House of Representatives.

Previously, Gordon was a Legislative Assistant in the U.S. Senate with responsibility for Indian Affairs and Commerce. Gordon also held an appointment as a Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. Department of State.

Gordon has an MPA from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government and a bachelor's degree in International Relations from Brigham Young University.
