Senate Passes Short-Term Transportation Bill

Congress on a two-week Easter recess

WASHINGTON—On March 27, the Senate cleared the way for a 90-day extension of the surface transportation bill that prevents a disruption of highway and transit spending programs, which would expire after March 31.

The new extension will keep those programs funded through June 30 while the House decides on a new transportation reauthorization bill. The Senate has already passed their transportation bill.

The House will continue debate on the transportation spending measure after Congress returns from their two-week Easter recess March 16.
